Read on to learn about Rail to Trail project progress; where you’ll find BERT in the community; our membership, HOA and endorsements, and how to donate to our Rail to Trail cause. Your Board of Directors has been hard at work generating public support and new endorsements for Bonita Estero Rail Trail.

Please attend the March 17th MPO Policy Board meeting and wear your BERT shirt if you have one. This is the final presentation of the MPO Feasibility Study and we need a good show of public support for Bonita Estero Rail Trail. If you’d like to speak during the public comment period, let me know! The Public Comment period allows no more than 3 minutes of comments.

BERT MAKING PROGRESS: Feasibility Study wrapping up and Design Phase to begin!
The Lee Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is making the rounds and gaining acceptance of the two-year feasibility study. These presentations culminate on March 17th at the MPO Policy Board meeting in Fort Myers. Read More>>
GROWING SUPPORT FOR THE BONITA ESTERO RAIL TRAIL
The Friends of BERT have been hard at work growing our base of advocates for the proposed rail-trail conversion. Since September, the number of individual supporters has grown from just a handful to over 2500! Read More>>
On February 25th, Goats Coffee sponsored an event at Riverside Park called “Bonita Fest.” The Friends of the Bonita Estero Rail Trail (BERT) were invited to participate so we set up our brand-new tent and six very dedicated BERT volunteers talked to people for a solid 5 hours. Read More>>
As all of us know, we will need a lot of support for the Bonita Estero Rail Trail to become a reality. All of our volunteers work for free so we don’t spend a dime on that. But the costs of materials, supplies, websites, accounting and so on are not. Read More>>
FRIENDS OF BERT GIVES PRESENTATION TO THE SOUTH FT. MYERS ROTARY CLUB
The Rotary Club of South Fort Myers asked the Friends of BERT to speak at their weekly meeting and of course we said yes. BERT VP, Emily Porter gave the presentation to a group of 50+ people who were very receptive to the addition of a safe place to walk/run/ride in Lee County. Read More>>
