Successful 2024 Ride for BERT

On Sunday morning, November 17th, we kicked off the Second Annual Trek Bike Shop of Estero Ride to benefit the Friends of BERT. Jon McLain, the mayor of the village of Estero, welcomed the riders and reaffirmed his support for the building of the Bonita Estero Rail Trail. Charles Hines from Trust for Public Land gave us a status on the land purchase, highlighting the urgent need to raise funds to purchase the property by March 2026. Close to 400 bicyclists from the local area left from the Trek Bike Shop of Estero at the Coconut Point Mall for a journey of 15 or 30 miles through Bonita Springs and Estero. Other than a flat tire or two, the ride went almost flawlessly. Lots of good music, food, information and festivities followed the ride.

The fundraising total keeps growing as more donations come in but it will easily surpass last year’s total. Special thanks to all of our sponsors, listed below, for their very generous support. Special thanks to the owners and staff at the Trek Bike Shop of Estero and Rooftop at Riverside for hosting the after party!

And extra special thanks to all of the 50+ volunteers from the ride leaders and sweepers to the check in folks, from set up and clean up crews to the food servers. Thanks for the hard work! We love you and the ride would not have been the success it was without your support!

An After Party at Rooftop at Riverside closed out the day with a free drink and even some ax throwing!
