Florida Gulf Coast Trail
Imagine a trail network stretching from Naples to Tampa, connecting communities and people through seven counties for 420 miles along Florida’s Gulf Coast. This is the goal of Trust for Public Lands and its Florida Gulf Coast Trail (FGCT) Director, Charles Hines. Charles Hines is featured in a Webcast, hosted by the Florida Office of Greenways and Trails where he details Trust for Public Lands (TPL) mission, the FGCT status and how to make this trail a reality.

Today the trail exists in sections that total 156 miles. It includes completed trails we know as Pinellas Trail; Legacy Trail; John Yarbrough Linear Park and of course, will include Bonita Estero Rail Trail. Trail planning and completion along the gulf coast has been completed locally. Now there is an effort to build a connected regional trail network. TPL and its partners, with Charles Hines at the helm, hope to make that a reality.
Check out the Webcast and learn how there hasn’t been a better time in Florida for trails. It’s with leadership; trail champion groups like Friends of BERT; private and public partners all working together that we can make this happen.
